Event Instances
An event instance represents a single performance or broadcast within a larger event. While an event defines the overall concert or festival, event instances break it down into individual shows -- each with its own artist, schedule, and stream configuration. This structure lets you manage multi-act lineups, multi-day festivals, or separate broadcast sessions under one event umbrella.
Important: Event instances are managed from within the event editor, not as a separate standalone page. There is no dedicated "Event Instances" route in the Creator Studio navigation. To work with instances, open an existing event from the My Events page and manage them from within that event's detail view.
What Are Event Instances
Think of an event as the container and instances as the individual items inside it. For example, a music festival event might contain separate instances for each performing artist's set. A multi-day concert series might have one instance per evening. Each instance can have its own:
- Artist assignment
- Start and end times
- Pricing tier
- Visibility settings
- Stream configuration
This separation gives you fine-grained control over scheduling and monetization while keeping everything organized under a single event.
Creating an Instance
To create an event instance, first navigate to My Events and open the event you want to add an instance to. From the event editor, you can add new instances with the following details:
- Name -- A descriptive title for this performance (for example, "Opening Set" or "Headliner Performance").
- Description -- Additional context about this instance, such as the setlist theme or special guests.
- Start Time -- The exact date and time this performance begins.
- End Time -- The date and time the performance concludes.
- Artist -- Assign the performing artist from your existing artist profiles. If you have not created one yet, see the Artists & Venues guide.
- Pricing Tier -- Set the pricing level for this instance, which determines what viewers will pay to access the performance.
- Visibility -- Control whether the instance is publicly listed or kept private until you are ready to publish.
- Headliner -- Mark whether this instance is the headlining act. Headliner instances receive prominent placement in the event listing.
Managing Instances
All instance management happens from within the parent event's detail view. From there you can:
- Edit any instance by selecting it and updating its fields. Changes are saved and reflected immediately.
- Delete an instance by selecting the delete option and confirming. Removing an instance takes down any associated stream or recording.
- Monitor status for each instance, which indicates whether it is scheduled, live, ended, or available as VOD.
Create all instances for an event before it goes live so your audience can browse the full lineup in advance. Use clear, descriptive names to help viewers distinguish between performances, and double-check start and end times when managing overlapping sets.
